If you’re running SACMI rotary blow molding machines, you know they don’t exactly move slowly. They’re fast. Really fast. And to keep that pace, your infrared lamps need to hit their target temperature almost the second you flip the switch. If there’s a lag, you’ve got a problem. That’s why we built our replacement lamps to cut out the waiting game.
Why “Fast Start” Actually Matters
It comes down to the guts of the lamp—the filament. We use high-density tungsten that’s specifically tuned for the way SACMI handles power. By tweaking the ratio of wattage to length, we make sure the lamp hits that sweet spot for PET heating without needing a long warm-up. Why does that matter? Because it stops those annoying “cold spots” from popping up in your preforms while the machine is spinning at full tilt.
The Build Quality
We use high-purity quartz glass for the tubes. It’s tough. It can handle the shock of heating up and cooling down rapidly without just snapping or cracking. We also don’t mess around with the connectors. Whether it’s R7s or SK15, they’re designed to lock in tight. Here’s the thing: a loose connection creates resistance. That leads to arcing, and before you know it, your end caps are burnt out and you’re swapping lamps again.
The Trade-off (And a Pro Tip)
These lamps push a lot of heat density to get that PET softening quickly. It’ll speed up your line, but there’s a catch. More heat means your oven’s cooling fans have to work harder. If your cooling system is a bit weak, the ambient heat will build up and eat away at the life of your lamps. It’s a balancing act. One last thing—whenever you swap a tube, take a second to check the contact points for oxidation. Give them a quick clean. It keeps the voltage stable and ensures your heating profile stays consistent across the entire line. Simple, but it saves you a massive headache later.
