Downtime climbs while you wait for a service window, and scrap piles up. We built a replacement infrared lamp for KHS blow molders to break that cycle.
What matters technically
We spec the lamp to match KHS heating requirements: medium-wave infrared output tuned for PET preform heating, stable filament temperature for a predictable heat profile, and the correct R7s base and quartz tube dimensions. Voltage and wattage are chosen to match the OEM heating zone load, so the control system sees the same electrical behavior. The quartz envelope handles rapid thermal cycling, and the internal geometry keeps the hot zone focused where the preform needs it.
Why it works on the line
On a KHS stretch blow molding line, heating consistency drives everything—neck crystallization, wall distribution, and cycle speed. The lamp brings the heating curve back to its original shape, so you regain repeatable bottle weight and top load strength. Energy use stays in line because the emitter delivers the designed output without over-driving the zone. In practice, that means fewer temperature-related rejects, fewer lamp changes, and more uptime on the machine you already own.
The practical details
Installation is straightforward, but treat the heating tunnel like a precision system. Verify local voltage and connector type, confirm lamp alignment and clearance against the reflectors, and make sure the thermocouple is sitting in the same reference position. Expect a short warm-up period for the heating profile to settle after replacement. If your line runs 24/7, keep a spare on the shelf—swapping one at shift change is faster than waiting on a vendor dispatch.
