Which wattage do you actually need?
Think of it in tiers. If you’ve just got a tiny powder room (under 4m²), a 400W to 600W lamp is plenty. It keeps things cozy without stressing out your electrical panel. For your average family bathroom (between 4m² and 8m²), you’ll want something in the 800W to 1200W range. Now, if you’re dealing with a massive master bath or a commercial space over 10m², one lamp won’t cut it. You’ll probably need a few 1500W units spread out to cover the area. One thing to keep in mind: heat moves in a cone. A 1500W lamp reaches much further down toward the floor than a 600W one does. So, look up at your ceiling and think about that distance before you buy.
The nitty-gritty stuff
We stick with shortwave infrared for a reason. It doesn’t waste time trying to heat up the air in the room—it heats you directly. It’s the only way to feel instant warmth if your bathroom is drafty. Plus, the quartz glass used in these lamps can handle being turned on and off rapidly without cracking. But here’s the catch: watch your power load. High-wattage lamps pull a lot of current. If you’re putting these into an older home, be careful. Trying to run three 1500W lamps on one old circuit is a great way to trip your breaker in the middle of a shower. It’s worth double-checking your wiring before you go all-in on the high-output gear.
Stop wasting power
Nobody wants a heater running in an empty room. The smartest move is to hook your lamp up to a motion sensor or a simple timer. That way, it only kicks in when you’re actually there. Not only does this keep your power bill down, but it also saves the filament from burning out too quickly. Simple. Efficient. And way warmer.
