
Getting Your SACMI Rotary Systems Up to Speed
In the world of high-speed PET blowing, every millisecond counts. If you’re running Chumpower or SACMI systems, you know the rhythm is relentless. There is almost no breathing room between loading a preform and blowing it. Here’s the problem: if your lamps are sluggish and take too long to hit that peak temperature, your preform wall thickness ends up uneven. It’s a headache you just don’t need.
Heat that hits fast
We built these replacement lamps to cut out the lag. By tweaking the filament geometry and the gas fill, we made sure the jump from “power-on” to “maximum heat” happens almost instantly. They’re a direct swap. You just slide them into the original SACMI heating oven footprint and you’re good to go. But there’s a catch with high wattage in small tubes—it creates an intense amount of heat density. That’s great for softening PET quickly, but it’s brutal on the glass. To stop the tubes from bowing or cracking under all that stress, we use high-purity quartz. It’s tough. It lasts.
The nitty-gritty of installation
Nobody likes a long line changeover. That’s why we use standardized connectors so you can get wired up and back to work fast. We also spent a lot of time on the contact points. Why? Because arcing is a silent killer in rotary machines, and it’s usually what burns out a lamp way before its time. Depending on the color of your preforms, you might need a different approach. A clear tube gives you raw, short-wave power. But if you’re dealing with thicker PET walls, we have specific coatings that shift the spectrum to help the heat penetrate deeper.
A few honest warnings
Look, faster start-ups and higher heat density mean the lamp is going to run hot.Really hot. Please, don’t ignore your cooling fans. If your airflow is clogged or your cooling system is underpowered, your lamp sockets are going to fry. And one more thing: keep your reflectors clean. It doesn’t matter if you have the fastest-starting lamp on the market—if it’s staring at a dusty reflector, you’re wasting energy.
